Installing trackers

IF Plug (OBD)

  1. Find the vehicle's OBD-II port. It is usually under the steering wheel, by the fuse box or in the centre console.
  2. Push IF Plug firmly into the port. The LED blinks while it finds the network and GPS (up to 5 minutes the first time, outdoors).
  3. Open GPS-Trackers in IFAPP and check that the tracker shows online.

IF Plug can be moved between vehicles. Remember to select the right tracker on the vehicle card in IFAPP when you move it.

IF Wire and IF Wire CAN (wired)

Wired trackers are installed by a technician. Installation is quoted per case.

  • Power: 10–30 V DC, connected to the vehicle battery or ignition.
  • Placement: hidden, but not surrounded by metal on all sides. Under the dashboard is usually good.
  • Antennas: the GPS antenna needs a "view" of the sky through plastic or glass, not metal.
  • IF Wire CAN: connected to the vehicle's CAN bus according to the manufacturer's diagram. Gives mileage, fuel level, speed and RPM.

Tracker on a site or in a warehouse

IF Wire can be installed permanently on a site, in a container or in a warehouse with a 12 V supply. The place then becomes a tracker zone: every tag that comes by is recorded – also after the vans have left.

Place the tracker centrally and high (2–3 m), away from metal shelving. Range to tags is 20–100 m depending on walls and materials.

Checklist after installation

  • The tracker is online in IFAPP.
  • The vehicle is created and linked to the tracker.
  • A trip appears on the map after the first drive.
